makin' tunes

I have not written a song in a while.

It is something that I should definitely get on.

Tonite we are going to a quiz.

Tomorrow we travel to old Hastings Town whereupon we shall embark upon a mighty celebration of the life and times of that loveable rogue The Network. I must stop mentioning him in every single post I write. It's just not right.

It is required that you make up nicknames for people when writing in the Real World because this protects a persons identities™ and this is good. People identities are castleness to the people involved.

I myself have many nicknames: tobiwan, pedestrian zero, the toaster, spiller. And yet I compromise everything by aliasing my name DOTCOM to tobiwan.co.uk. Retarded much? I think so.

It's shower time!

don't count on it..

Treasure Trails

Hello.

These last few days I have been having fun with the Guinness Golden Domino treasure hunt. Yes I am a geek and yes it was quite fun. Don't have a girlfriend? Have a girlfriend but don't mind getting dumped? Head on over to GUINNESS® La leyenda del DominĂ³ de Oro.

The whole idea is to unlock the new advert using codes that can be found across the web in sites that Guinness has set up.

If you honestly can't be arsed with all of that, just download the new Guinness advert.

Alternatively, if you're here through a google search and can't work out the clues, you could always try commenting here. If you don't annoy me I might even help you out. Heeeeee.

PS. Click on the mayor dude when you get to the site. The way he talks is peculiar.

times table

Hi.

This has not been a busy week. So don't ask.

Today will be the third annual Lord of the Rings Day where we get together, watch all the films back to back (11 hours) and get laughed at by the non-geek demographic. A happy time for all involved. To further add to the geek-ness of the occasion, it is (by coincidence) Bilbo and Frodo's birthday today.

You can expect the usual.

new feature Friday!

That's your other Friday. Your Sunday flavoured one.

Anywhich, moving aside. If you have a nifty little check on the sidebar (under the title 'out there') you'll find a new and updated blogroll. Is your blog on there? Yes? No? It now give you the top 10 blogs in order of who updated most recently.

Holy added incentive Batman!

It's not working perfectly just yet as it appears that it needs some blogs to be updated before it registers in the correct order. But you know how to solve that? Update your blog. If it still doesn't appear then I might have forgotten to add it to my list. So let me know.

I'm so bored of typing now that you don't get anything more.

True blue.

if they could see me now

If you can see and read this post I *think* that means the new design is finally finished. Well. I say finished. I'll be tweaking it no doubt. If you spot something weird going on let me know. And I'll say "that was supposed to be like that, do you not like it?".

Well. To sleep and so on. Or in actual fact I'm probably going to end up staying up even later trying to coax my new template into working.

More updates on Birthweek(ish) and such later..

for those of y'all who run canny Macs

I don't mean to alienate vast swathes of my audience (haha that's rich) but the time has come to give some tips to my fellow mac users. If you already use/know of these then my apologies, but I've found the following to be helpful:
  • If you're a good energy saving type of bod like myself and your mac is turned off or asleep overnite you may well be missing the automatic tidy up benefits of mac os x. Good news - you can do it manually. Simply open the Terminal (in Applications > Utilities) and run the following commands:
    sudo periodic daily
    sudo periodic weekly
    sudo periodic monthly

  • If you're finding Mail to be a bit slow, quit it, open that terminal monkey again and run this command:
    sqlite3 ~/Library/Mail/Envelope\ Index vacuum subjects;

  • Keep an eye on this site: freemacware.com. They have a new free piece of mac software listed every day. True most of it you won't want/need but there's some gems that come up every now and again.

That's me done.

See you later I don't doubt.

We're going to Center Parcs today. Until Sunday. Fun fun fun. Although I can't go down the rapidding something like 400 times because last time I did that I went deaf in both ears for over a week and we can't have me being deaf in both ears whilst rocking it up at the album launch now can we?

Two posts in two days. That hasn't happened since 2006. Oh. Actually no I think it has. But don't let it get you down.

Overandout.

Not doing my reputation any favours..

Hello.

Here are some phrases I think I need to try and use more often:

"ETA on.."
"Move into position"
"Where are we staging?"
"I hope I'm not a psycho-path"
"We don't have time for your personality disorder"
"We've got to put all our energy into finding that nuclear warhead."

I think I can work all of them into daily use. Possibly not the last one though..

You may or may not be able to tell that I'm watching 24 season 4. And I have been since around 6am this morning. I think that unless you watch them on Tv this is probably the best way to do it. The adrenaline based plotlines that kick in around 2/3-3/4 the way through a series keep you awake. I am watching 7 hours more tv in one session than I ever have though (18 hours compared to Lord of the Rings' 11).

Still, 5 real hours left and 6 and a half 24 hours left. We'll get there my peoples. We'll get there..
