New toy!
Christmas is badass. And here is for why. This my friends is a loop station. And what joy it bestows. Just don't tell the Saffa. He's at home to the green eyed monster you see.

By way of an explanation
This is why I never have any "trouble" with the ladies. That and the constant (ish) blogging.

and why not?
It's time to harp on about that old Christmas thang again. What a day!
I think it might be the time to bust out the strangeday highlights/lowlights template and show y'all what was what. I know that's what you're here (hear?) for. So. Without further ado and, of course, with no more gilding the lily.. shall we dance you and I?
highlightschristmas dinner (natch), midnight mass with traces of alcohol, cheapo stockings!, Boosh live, presents (but of course), new watch, new shirt, new scarf, money for loopeys!, wine, vodka jelly (jon kavelli?) - still to come, partays! - still to come, seeing El and Fizz open their presents, so much more
lowlightsmay have burnt the potatoes to some extent, the weather - I SAID SNOW Y'EEJITS!, think that's about it
So there you have it. What's to look forward to now? Well a hell off lazy week, more food tomorrow as well as FAMILY OH MI GOSH and of course the END OF THE YEAR OH WOW. We're nearly clear of 2007. That's significant I guess.
Anyway. I'm sidling off onto other things. Onwards and upwards you crazy kittens. Keep it nice and tasty y'hear?

The season of excess..
We've pretty much finished shopping for everything we need. A couple more presents to get but as we won't be seeing the people they're for until after christmas it's no great shakes.
What fun. So you know, having broken down once and been repaired (battery) the bleddy thing broke down again on Thursday (heater matrix). Joy of joys.
I think I might start celebrating all the holidays a week or two early or late. Think about it, how much easier would that make it. Cheaper too I think.
So to sum up:
I win.

One for the bloggers out there
Hello again.
I've spoken to a few people about stats for websites/blogs and I thought this would be useful for you.
I normally say, "I can get stats because I host my website outside of blogspot so there etc."
But recently I came across Google Analytics. I'd heard about it ages ago but never really twigged what it was. Basically what I'm telling you is that if you sign up to Google Analytics (by going
here), stick a bit of code at the bottom of your blog template (follow their instructions) and wait, you'll be able to see some lovely pie charts and informations about who has been looking at your blog.
Unfortunately I don't think it can tell you if the government has earmarked your blog for 'further analysis' due to 'subversive tendencies' or 'rebellious streaks' or 'somewhat distorted view of reality'.
But other than that is does a pritty good job.

self improvement
Today's lesson runs thus:
I must think harder about the information that people actually need when I'm speaking to them.
This is mostly required in business type exchanges. So for instance this morning when I rang the garage, they didn't need to know that I had read the opening time last nite as 8am but was ringing in the hope that they actually opened earlier. They especially didn't need that information in the garbled state in which it was delivered.
I'm guilty of this quite a lot you know. It comes from not wanting people to misunderstand me. I often find that when watching films/programmes I think that characters should be explaining themselves more. Then I realise they really don't need to.
Another classic example is phoning up ill for work. All you really need to say is, "Hi, I'm not able to come in today because I'm ill." Simple really.
That's it today. No humour. No picture. Just insights a-go-go.

I'll just clear my diary
It is nice to have a Saturday that would have been busy but has become free through unexpected.. um.. ness.
So we're having a lazy day. Watching The Science of Sleep.
[cut]
It's later on now. Science of Sleep is a good film but it left us feeling a little surreal. Weirdness.
Right now I'm sat around with Misses, Nikbo, DaveFace, Bits and Bobs. We drinkin', we chattin', we chillin'.
Only three more days of work before the holly days. Tuesday is work Christmas 'do'. That should be 'the fun'. Already bin to an unofficial ex-work do last work. That was also 'the fun'.
That's about it.
As an extra piece of information for all o' y'all: don't worry about what you hear here (hear hear?) in the real world. I wouldn't use this forum to carry out fights with people, or.. well.. anything like that. Just so you know.
Also, our car's broken down again. Bloody cars. I think it's the starter motor. We couldn't get it booked into the garage we trust until Monday so we've been without it for nearly a week. Rubbish. That's what that is.
That's about it. As you know, you can't have it all..

still tiny minded thoughts I think
It's weird that no matter what else is going on in your life you will still find stupid thoughts encroaching upon you.
Like:
"sometimes in the morning, getting dressed stalls at socks. Like, I'll be all dressed apart from socks, but that will be too much and I'll have to go and do something else like make a cup of tea. Then I'll look at the socks and think, I'll just brush my teeth. And so on. It's weird that."
or
"When you have an electric toothbrush with a timer, it makes you better with a normal toothbrush if you have to use one for some reason like you're on holiday or you've forgotten to charge the electric toothbrush again. Because before you just used to brush all over your mouth like it's r-r-random but now you do a big stretch of time - maybe even 30 seconds but probably not exactly because that would be well impressive - on each quadrant of your mouth. So that's good because it means even when you're not getting the goodness delivered by the rapidly oscillating head you're getting benefits."
Not that there's anything particularly big going on in my life right now.
It's just I had these thoughts and I, you know, thought that you might be interested.
I can see now I was wrong.

makin' tunes
I have not written a song in a while.
It is something that I should definitely get on.
Tonite we are going to a quiz.
Tomorrow we travel to old Hastings Town whereupon we shall embark upon a mighty celebration of the life and times of that loveable rogue The Network. I must stop mentioning him in every single post I write. It's just not right.
It is required that you make up nicknames for people when writing in the Real World because this protects a persons identities™ and this is good. People identities are castleness to the people involved.
I myself have many nicknames: tobiwan, pedestrian zero, the toaster, spiller. And yet I compromise everything by aliasing my name DOTCOM to tobiwan.co.uk. Retarded much? I think so.
It's shower time!
don't count on it..

It's the weekend again. Not being one to bang on about stuff but time does flow on doesn't it. I haven't seen the ebbs so much in these days.
What's been rocking my clock recently?
The Mighty Boosh (series 1 & 2) as the more astute might have already noticed
Green Wing Series 1
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Five Iron Frenzy - The Greatest Album Never Sold (my own personal best of)
Still to come in the days.. uh.. to come:
The Science of Sleep
Lost in Translation
We gots quizzes this weekend. We gots partays. Then Monday will be back around swift as. SWIFT AS.
Besides.
Actually there was no besides I just fancied a besides.
Hands up who else thinks that the NETWORK should write a sitcom. If he did, it would **** the Boosh. But don't tell Fizz she'd kill me.
You can guess the rude word.
Peaceout.

on cynicism and such
Right then.
I was on the bus earlier today, as can be the case from time to time. The woman in front of me had a (red top) paper which was open on the problems page.
Right there is all the proof you'll ever need that:
- people never learn
- people are gluttons for punishment
- people think that the rules don't apply to them
I mean seriously. I can only assume these people never read the problem page to which they have decided to send their desperate plea for help because they're having an affair with a married man and he says he'll leave her but he hasn't yet etc etc.
Unless of course all of these letters are made up and I've been had.
I think I probably am a cynic. At least, according to
Wikipedia I am. And according to MotherVic.
But I like to think I'm at least an optimistic cynic. A cynic with a dash of hope. Sometimes.
Maybe a chipper cynic.
I should be careful. I'm coming awfully close to making a defining statement about myself. We all know how much I hate being boxed up now don't we.
This is, quite frankly, going nowhere. And I should really get some shuteye. Tomorrow I'm heading out Sevenoaks way. So watch out posh people. You've got it coming.
Think that's about it.
