where the wild things are

You see now the holiday begins in earnest. Bin mostly lazing aboot these last two days.

Although today you will hopefully note that I have been messing about with the template, making things as they should be. We're nearly there actually. I even made the quote machine spit out random old quotes if there isn't a quote for today. That's because these days there seems to be more days without quotes than with. (hint hint).

It's the Hatt's birthday today. Here's to you fellah!

um um um what else?

Well not so much really. Take care now. Ok bye bye

harking back to when the grass was first cut

Yay. I have summer holidays again. How novel.

I plan to play some mammoth games of 40-40, have lots of kickarounds over Elphinstone, clear the path round the back of the houses, make many trips to Beaneys for sweets and comicz and also build a kart or maybe turn the shed into a ganghouse.

What larks.

Uncommon fine ones at that.

You must understand, I've defished on sleep lately. It happens.

the Carpathian

Hey hey my little webberface friends

I trust that you are keeping it oh so real and also on the very much down low.

Ridiculous greeting aside I feel it has been a time since I last went on about David Ford but he has a new single out and, well, it's dandy. It's up on his myspace and it's called Go To Hell. In particular check out around 2m20s when the middle 8 kicks in. Such menace.

In other news, school broke up on Friday but I have 3 inset days to complete. Nevertheless, high jinks were had in Black Heath on Friday and in a more extended fashion in Sevenoaks last nite. Good times they were had.

But I reserve the true de-mob happiness for Wednesday. Actually that's a lie. I'm the king of keeping up de-mob happiness all year round. It's the only way.

Behave your selfs this sunny-ish Sunday.

Heylo

I bet you're all wondering how fame and all that has changed me.

Pretty much the answer is not really. I mean I have a bigger sofa in the house and a newer tee vee but those were both free. Also there have been a lot less dancing girls than I thought there might have been.

I went to the horsey races last nite. The strange thing was that kidsis was there the day before. Weird. Anyway, I didn't win anything. But it was a nice time. I went with other colleagues from my place of work. We had those fun times you hear about. Then we fell asleep on the coach home.

Rock in roll my comraids.

Finality

Hello my good peoples. Here's what you've all been waiting for. I was way too tired to do anything by the time we got back. And also, and plus, I didn't do anything Monday because perhaps I forgot.

So. Sunday was HOT. I feel sorry for all you sun-worshippers in England because damn that was some hot weather. Did I mention it was hot? You wanna know what I did? I stayed in my tent. Which was also hot. I was big fat lying in a puddle of my own sweat. I'm a very attractive person by the way.

Ok. So after a shower (length of time that that was effective for: 10 minutes) we headed up to Exit. Slight crossed wires meant that I didn't realise we weren't supposed to be up there until later and so there was no-one to give leaflets to. But since we had performer passes we were able to get in and have a wander about.

Eventually Aetar, Morris, Boban, Marco and Damien turned up and we had some fun chillin', illin', doin' tv and radio bits and getting ready to play.

The gig itself was very cool. So much fun. There'll be pictures and some video. We had a lot of room to move about which was nice. And people seemed to be into it.

All in all a great weekend. Monday was spent packing and travelling. Tiring yes.

Speaking of tiring, this has been a long post. Time to move on to Operation Shuteye maybe soon.

Yuh-huh

Magain

Well today and yesterday have been rather different. Sleeping in til 11 definitely helped. A lot less exhausted. We went to the Belgrade beach. Which is a man made lake. We ate a lot of meat, drank some beer and swam. Across the lake and back. Hard work. Then after a bus back to Novi Sad we explored Exit. We caught most of Basement Jaxx, ate pizza, saw our stage, danced like hoons to latin music and chilled out in the chill out cafe. Nice.

Long day

It doesn't feel like everything that happened today actually happened today. It feels more like a pastiche of days. I got up at 5 and the music from exit was still pumping. I had to catch zs wherever I could all day. First on the coach, then later at Morris'. Anyway. I met Marco and we went for breakfast at a very nice place that was closed. Had my first ever tv experience. I was being translated by Igor from Aetar which was a little strange. We all met up later and went to Aetar's rehearsal studio to practice a little and to eat the biggest watermelon you've ever seen. In the evening we played Club Danguba and it was a wild gig. We were chatting and drinking outside with Aetar and Broken Strings and the atmosphere was golden. After the long day was the reward of proper beds thanks to Boban. Good day. Good sleeps.

Report i

It will be interesting to see if this goes through. I'm currently in my tent listening to Groove Armada across the river in the fort. It's been a mad day. We travelled for most of the day and when we got here I got whisked away to do my first ever radio interview (it was short, since you asked) in a well communist building whilst the others had a beer and relaxed. This evening we caught the end of the Prodigy and got stuck in a very stupid beer queue. I will be getting up in two and a half hours to do breakfast Tv. How very rock and roll.

in the twilight

I don't think there's a more atmospheric time than twilight. Even the names for it are evocative: afterglow, blue hour, dusk, gloaming.

Lovely..

Hello. I haven't spoken to you since most of today.

Just to tell you, I feel it's about time I nailed my colours to the mast regarding the whole evolution debate. It's a bit of a tricky subject and one that tends to be fraught with emotion and tension and usually quite a few other words that end in 'ion'.

I was thinking of doing a great big build up with all sorts of overwrought, archaic, obfuscating and generally rather annoying verbal wizardry but I will big fat be honest with you: I can't be arsed.

So. To tell you what I really think about evolution (using someone else's words, naturally):

"Truly, dinosaurs are the pinnacle of Animalia. Given enough time, every animal of every species will eventually evolve into a type of dinosaur... followed by a winged dinosaur. Evidence for these changes lie in the fact that most dinosaurs could destroy most of the animals that exist today - including prickly ones. This act of dinosaurs destroying prickly animals is referred to by the scientific community as 'Survival of the Fittest.'" (taken from Bad News Radio)

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Well there's busy and then there's busy but I must say things are a little crazy round these here parts.

In less than a week's time we'll be in Serbia which is rather exciting. We've been practising our faces off to make sure we're nice and tight. It's also nearly Kidsis' birthday, Joelyboy moved out, Bobcat had a time in Alton Towers, The Hairy Badger had a stag and is getting marrid tomorrow and various other larks and high jinks have occured. O yes and it has rained. Rained like it was going out of fashion.

I probably don't have any thoughts to share as such because my brain is crowding them out with trying to work out what I should be doing, and what I should have done.

We does wonder where the summer went to though. Entirely unoriginal thought and one that everyone seems intent on voicing all the live long day actually. I would like a few summery days for barbecues and food and drinking wine but I also quite like being tucked up warm on the sofa as the rain beats the windows.

Not that I've had time for either of course.

Better go do stuff.

Look after your selfs

the verdict

Fist gig after the smoking ban..

No need to wash hair or clothes.
Voice felt a little smoother
Could smell a lot of other stuff (that's not a positive really)

Overall that's a yea then I think.

How've you all been?

I'm just dandy thanks, and I'm heading off to bed. Early (ish) for a change. So there's your update on operation shuteye (I know you're on tenterhooks for this stuff. I do).

You can't have it all
