self improvement
Today's lesson runs thus:
I must think harder about the information that people actually need when I'm speaking to them.
This is mostly required in business type exchanges. So for instance this morning when I rang the garage, they didn't need to know that I had read the opening time last nite as 8am but was ringing in the hope that they actually opened earlier. They especially didn't need that information in the garbled state in which it was delivered.
I'm guilty of this quite a lot you know. It comes from not wanting people to misunderstand me. I often find that when watching films/programmes I think that characters should be explaining themselves more. Then I realise they really don't need to.
Another classic example is phoning up ill for work. All you really need to say is, "Hi, I'm not able to come in today because I'm ill." Simple really.
That's it today. No humour. No picture. Just insights a-go-go.

i too have discovered this same fault in my genetic make-up! i dont go a day ney an hour without carla stopping me mid-mumbo-jumbo to say 'right stop talking, think about what you're going to say and then start again!', i wonder whom this comes from!? i also get very panicky and nervous when doing presentations, yet i would happilly get up in front of the same group of people and tell a joke or juggle a football!? very strange considering i am wholly aware of how i feel and try desperately to change it while its happening as i am also aware that its less embarassing to be confident then to be as nervous as a little kitten!....ahhh! onwards i suppose

Actually you can't juggle just one football. That would just be throwing and catching. Not juggling.
But thanks for the comment.
