Sporty McGee - That's me!

In the last month or so I have played:

Racketball
Squash
Foop-ball
Tennis
Jogging (ok technically I didn't play it, I did it. Pedant!)
Cricket (beach cricket no less)
Frisbee

That's a lot for me. Belie' dat.

Um. And also. Um. Stuff. Yeah. Did you read/hear about that whole intelligent design thang?. Here's a quote from that page:
He also said intelligent design was not a "testable theory" and as such was rejected by scientists.

Um. Say what now? Scientists can reject anything that can't be tested? I'm not a professional scientist, so perhaps I don't understand the whole thing, but are you basically saying if you can't test something it doesn't or can't exist? This is dangerously closed minded thinking. Something which religious people are frequently labelled as doing. Although I concede: in most cases not without due cause.

I get frustrated with this whole debate. I get frustrated with (mostly American) christians and the scientists and as with most things just wish that everyone would settle for a nice big cup of shut the hell up.

Here's m'problems:
  • Christians are dumb for thinking they can use the law to foist change upon people who don't share the same beliefs as them. It's one thing to speak up for what you believe in, and also to try and get it so that schools can teach all opinions, but to try and make it law to only teach creationism? Come on. Spend your energy on love and compassion instead.

  • This godawful assumption that to believe that there is something else other than chance at work in the universe is a backwards or somehow simple belief.

  • The arrogance of people on both sides. How can you assume you know what's what? Surely both Science and the Bible (/insert religious text) should inspire awe at just how little we are able to know and understand. Leastways I know that's what the Bible does, and people been saying similar about Hurricane Katrina.

I guess I'm arguing for a little more open-mindedness on both sides. Why can't people just get on with their lives without bitching at each other the whole time?

Woah. That got deep pretty fast. Ah well. I'd imagine that you'll cope.

Toby

Well done to you for having a little rant.

I'm inclined to agree with you.

So well done for that too.

Woby!

Thanks for the comment about icing; it was helpful for implementing religious law in the USA so that only recipes which include icing can be taught in our schools. I feel that the world will be a better place because of this. Clearly from a biblical point of view you can prove that icing is superior. Thank you for your service to mankind.

Rock the planet!
