fun with mailing lists
Oh the fun.
I've just spent.. oh ages.. sorting out a mailout to all our friends and family. (Which, incidentally, if you feel you should have got and didn't, give me a shout.) The problem came from the fact that the mailing software I was using, and won't mention *coughPHPListcough* decided that 165 emails of the 221 I entered were in fact invalid. Which they jolly well weren't.
The second obstacle was the fact that if you send an email to an invalid address, it gets marked as having been sent. Which you can't undo.
So in addition to making it realise that those 165 were valid, I had to delete and reimport them.
Once I'd finally done that and got it to send, I realised that I had mistakenly sent them all as text only. So I had to redo the whole process, which resulted in 165 people getting two emails from me, not one.
I almost sent out an email explaining all of this, but I thought that might be overkill. So I'm whining to you about it.
The humanity!
Boring, I realise, but not as boring as sitting through several hours of actually doing it.
Bing.
